There I was, a busy doctor helping thousands of patients live their best lives, while juggling my roles as mother of 3, wife, team doctor and community volunteer.
The thing is, at the time it appeared from the outside that I was doing all the right things for my own health – seeing a naturopath, working out with a trainer twice a week, drinking protein shakes, taking supplements - you know the drill.
The big problem was that I was experiencing hormonal changes, I was gaining weight, and I was exhausted. I was frustrated and embarrassed by how I looked and felt and I had become what I never wanted to be - a midlife health statistic - burnt out, overwhelmed and overweight! My self-esteem, self-confidence and productivity plummeted as my weight increased.
